April 12, 2010

This past weekend I attended the Guatemala CAM conference. The man that preached spoke on the grace of God and resting in Him.

We as humans have so many things that can keep us from resting. We have responsibilities, cell phones, emails, activities at church and other places. There are so many good things that can keep us from having the time to rest and spend with the Lord. It would be easy for us to not have the time to spend with the Lord. If we do not spend time with Him how can we be like Him? We do not all rest in the same way so find out what you need to do to rest and then take the time to rest.

While at the conference I met some wonderful people. My roommate is another intern who is here until the end of October. She is here working with a daycare in the capital. She is trying to make a sponsorship program for children that cannot afford to pay for their schooling.

Pray that the Lord will bless all of the missionaries in Guatemala and around the world. There are many people that are raising support to come serve in Guatemala pray that they will receive the support needed.

It seams that nothing good comes without a few problems. My sister and her husband are still working on the paper work for the adoption of Cameron. Please be in prayer with us that the Lord will speed up all of the processes that the papers have to go through and that they will have all of the papers completed before the end of April. Pray also that there will not be any more problems. Pray that God will give them peace as they go through all of these problems.

Thank you for your prayers.

Hello Praying Friend
This week all of the teachers had to turn in the grades for the first two months.
Aunt Cindy and I worked on them all day yesterday. Thank the Lord I was able to give them to the director this morning. All of the children passed. Although there are a few that just barely passed. Pray for them that they will study for the next test and they will get a higher grade on it.
Thank you for your prayers.

Buenos Días Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo.
Gracias por sus oración pro mi.
Good Day Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
Thank you for your prayers for me.
It is hard for me to believe that I have been here for 3 whole months. I will be honest I have had some days that I wished that I could go home. Not because I do not like it here, but because there are a lot of things happening at home this year that I am missing. I know that this is where that Lord wants me and because of that I would not trade my time here for anything. No one said that being a missionary was easy or that we would not miss our family and the things that happen at home. Sometimes I have to remind myself that Jesus left the most perfect place and the most wonderful father every. He came to a place that rejected him and put him to death. I thank the Lord that I am very loved and accepted here. I have many friends. There is one family that told me that while I am here they are my parents and brothers and sisters. So I now have four more sisters and two more brothers. And I am older than them all.
Anyway Everything is going very well here. We have had the whole week off from school because it is Holy week. Sunday is Easter and we are having a sunrise service. Then school starts again on Monday.
Please be in prayer for us as we are in the proses of renewing our visas. Uncle Ken and aunt Cindy need new passports also. Pray that they will get them quickly and without any problems.
Please continue to pray that my Spanish will continue to improve.
Continue to pray that my sister and her husband will get the paper work that they need back in the mail and they will be able to fly to Colombia on April 9th. Pray also that they will be able to see Cameron on April 13th as they are planing.
¡Dios Te Bendiga!
God Bless You!
Love in Christ your Sister Sarita.

Thank you for your prayers.
Please pray for the children this week. They have tests until Friday.
I gave my English test on Thursday. The children did not do as well as I had hoped. Pray that God will help me to teach in a way that the children can understand and then speak the words they learn clearly. Learning English is as hard for them as it is for me to learn Spanish. We need lot of practice and to hear the words over and over again.
We have been busy. We are helping one of the locale families make some bead bracelets and hair clips to sell. Believe it or not they say "Gators" on them, as in the FL Gators.
Please continue to pray for my sister and her husband as they are still waiting for one piece of paper before they can fly. Lord willing they will fly to Colombia April 9th and will see Cameron for the first time on the 13th. Their wedding anniversary.
Please pray that Gods will will be done.

My how time flies when you are having fun

or working hard.

I can hardly believe that is has been 1 month and 26 days since I left Alabama. I miss everyone very much. But the Lord is good and He is taking care of my every need. As much as I would love to be with my family and all of my friends I know that I am where God wants me. And that is the most important thing.

We had 2 more trimmers on Tuesday. They were not big, but we felt them. The first one was at about 5:00am and the second one was around 9:15am. I was teaching when the second one hit. The children did not like it very much but the teacher calmed them down and I went on teaching. I taught them the word earthquake. It was fun to take something that just happened and to add it to what I was teaching.

Please continue to pray for me as I am still trying to learn to speak Spanish. I can understand more then I can speak. Pray that God would help me as I study and practice.

A lot has happened since my last post. Both here and at home. Most of you know that I stayed with a Guatemalan family 2 weeks ago. Well to say the least the first day was the worst day I have ever had. But after that I had the most wonderful time possible. I would not trade the experience for anything in the world.
We have had a group here from Canada. They have been wonderful and have done more work than we thought they would. The spent the week putting wood burning cook stoves in to the homes of the local people. They put in 8 stoves. It takes a lot of heads to remember the order that everything goes together.

At home there has been a lot going on as well. I learned last week that My sister Mary Ann and her Husband Patrick have been called by the Colombian Government. And they will be adopting a 10 month old little boy Cameron David Mulvehill.

Please be in prayer that God will speed all of the paper work up and provide the money needed for the trip and adoption. This is Patrick and Mary Ann's web site they have all the updates and a place for donations please check it out. http://www.patnmary.net/

Thank you for your prayers. God bless.
