Great news!!!!

I have been enjoying my time here with my family. We have worked in the garden and mowed grass and all kinds of things.
I think the best part of my trip so far was this morning when we talked to my sister and she said that they will be coming home next week. Please pray for everything to go smoothly and for a safe flight home.

Today is the day!

I will be leaving Guatemala City in just a few hours to begin the flight home.
I am looking forward to being with my family and working on the farm again.
I do not get to do much outside work here and I am looking forward to it. Although I have been told that it is very hot in Alabama right now not nice like we have it here. I think that we actually got in the low 70s yesterday.
See you soon!

This is what I see from the church parking lot.

Time flies when you are having fun!

The time has been flying past. I can hardly believe that in ten days I will have been away from home for six full months. There are some days that I feel like I have not seen my family in forever and then there are other days that I fell like I left home yesterday.
Yesterday in church they prayed that I would have a safe trip and come back quickly. After church I had a lot of people come and ask when I was coming back and tell me that they did not want me to go. It made me feel very wanted and like I will be missed as much as I will miss the people here.
I thank God for all of my friends and family here. But I am glad that I will be going home for a visit in 56 hours and 1 minute.
Thank you for your prayers and support. I will see you soon.

74 hours and 47 minutes until I land in Atlanta GA.
Then just long enough for me to get through the gate and find my family. Then begins ten days of FAMILY and fun.
I just wish that my sister and her husband and son were going to be home.
Praise God that He is in control and knows everything.

16 days and counting!

Thank you all for your love and support. When I came to Guatemala I did not think that I would be able to go home at all during the ten months that I have committed to teach. But I have learned that the children have a mid year break and that I will be able to go home for a visit. So on June 23rd I will be flying home for a 10 day visit.
16 days and counting.
Can't wait to see my family and all for my friends that I have not seen in five months and eight days.
See you all soon!!

Please pray for all of the missionaries and Christian leaders here in Guatemala.
Today the Spaugh's home was broken into and they were robbed. One of the other missionary families was at the beach the father and tow of the children were caught in the under tow. Praise the Lord they are okay. The devil is after the people that are being used by God. Pray for strength and courage to continue serving no matter the coast.

June 3, 2010

I am sure that most of you have heard about everything that has been happening here in Guatemala. So I would like to take a minute and thank you for your prayers. I can honestly say that I did not know how bad everything was until I talked to my dad and he asked if I was okay and how much damage we got. Praise the Lord the only thing that we got here in Patzún was rain and lots of it. We got about eight inches in one night and it rained for several days.

There was a group here during the storm and when they tried to leave they had to take a bus because the vans that they came in could not make it back to the capital. The roads were in to bad of shape. Monday when uncle Ken and aunt Cindy went to the capital they had to drive an hour out of the way to get to the capital.

One of the scary things is that some of the towns that have been talked about in the news I have been to. I know people that live there. I read on one web site that Chimaltenango is one of the worst places. We dive through Chimaltenango to get to the capital. I do not know if what they say is true or not but it is scary that we could have been driving through that town when all of this happened. Again PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS PROTECTION. And thank you for your prayers. We are fine and do not have any damage here in Patzún.

This is me on the volcano that erupted.

Again thank you for your prayers and concerns.
